Modern automotive Trim & Final lines remove painted doors at the start of trim ('doors-off') and re-fit fully dressed doors near the end of the line ('doors-on'). Because a dressed front or rear door weighs 25–55 kg with glass, regulator, wiring, and trim panels—and has an offset centre of gravity—manual handling causes panel dings, hinge misalignment, and operator shoulder strain.
